How to Clean & Care for Your PXG Clubs
Golf clubs are a big investment. To keep them squeaky clean and performing like new, here are our tips on how to clean and care for your clubs like a pro.
What You Need
- Old toothbrush or soft-bristled brush
- Warm water
- Microfibre towel
- Chrome or steel polish
- Clean cloth
- Bucket and/or bowl
- Non-toxic, gentle dishwashing liquid or soap

Irons & Wedges Care
The process for cleaning PXG irons and wedges is straightforward. You’ll need a soft-bristled brush, microfibre towel, a bucket of warm water, soap or dishwashing liquid, and chrome or steel polish.
Fill the bucket with warm water and add a few teaspoons of soap. Place your club heads in the bucket and let them soak for at least five minutes.
Remove the irons one by one and use the soft-bristled brush to remove dirt and build-up. A toothbrush (or even a butter knife) works well in the grooves. You can also use the brush on the perimeter and precision weighting on the back of the club head. Finish with a rinse in the warm water to wash away any lingering debris.
Lastly, dry each club with the microfibre towel, paying special attention to polishing the sole.

Woods & Putter Care
Fairways and hybrids should never be submerged in water because of the metal they contain. You’ll need a soft-bristled brush, microfibre towel, a bowl of warm water, and soap or dishwashing liquid.
Mix warm water with a few teaspoons of gentle dishwashing liquid, dip your brush in the mixture and gently scrub the club head. When you’re finished, dry it thoroughly with the microfibre towel.
PXG putters can be cleaned the same way, but generally only need a quick wipe down.

Shaft Cleaning
Once your club heads are clean, move on to the shafts. This area is prone to dirt build-up and shouldn’t be neglected.
Use a damp cloth to wipe any build-up from the shaft, then dry it thoroughly with a clean microfibre towel.

Grip Cleaning
Many golfers overlook their grips. Grips wear over time from use and an accumulation of dirt and sweat. To get that fresh, tacky feel back, clean your grips regularly.
Wipe the grip with a damp cloth after you play and dry it with a microfibre towel. Make sure the water isn’t too hot, as heat can damage the grip.

Storing Your Clubs
Consider your climate when storing your clubs. The boot of your car may seem convenient, but heat and constant movement can cause long-term damage and extra wear.
Instead, store them in a cool, dry area of your garage. If your garage is humid, store them inside. Humid conditions can cause rust and epoxy breakdown.
